Kids on the Block
This program is offered at the 6th grade level and currently offered to all Hall County
and Gainesville City Middle Schools and Lakeview Academy.  KOTB is a puppet drama
designed to help students think and talk about the choices and values involved is sex and
teen pregnancy and to stimulate conversation between young people and their parents
about
their family values regarding this issue.
Programs
Teen Pregnancy Prevention, Inc.
9th Grade Classroom-Based Education  
This program is an 8-session classroom-based model utilizing the Choosing the Best
Journey curriculum.  It is currently offered to all Gainesville City, Hall County and Lakeview
Academy 9th grade students.  It is designed to encourage healthy and safe relationships
and responsible decision making among teens.  Choosing the Best empowers young
people to make safe and positive choices.  Lessons that are covered include:  Setting
Goals, Making the Best Decisions, Avoiding Pregnancy, Avoiding STDs, Developing the Best
Relationships, Choosing Abstinence until Marriage, Overcoming the Pressure and Being
Assertive.
   
SmartGirls  
This program was developed in response to numerous requests from middle and high
school counselors, who were alarmed at the pregnancy rate of incoming freshman girls.  
This program was initiated several years ago and is offered to Gainesville City, Hall County
Schools and Lakeview Academy.  These small group style sessions are designed to
promote abstinence, address the issues of appropriate and inappropriate sexual behavior,
the consequences of early
sexual involvement (including pregnancy, STI's), decision-
making and life-skills training.
WiseGuys
This program is a prevention based education program aimed at decreasing the rate of
teen pregnancy in Hall County.  It is offered to middle and high school young men in
seventh through twelfth grade.
Pregnant and Parenting Support and Education Groups
This program is offered to all Hall County and Gainesville City School students who are
either pregnant or parenting.  These groups are designed to encourage the students to
complete high school, reduce subsequent pregnancies, ensure healthy pregnancies
and babies, improve parenting skills and reduce early childhood abuse.
